MARJAN - climbing area situated in the center of the Split. On the south side of Marjan peninsula the cliffs are facing island of Solta and island of Ciovo, as well as many of city beaches located below limestone cliffs.
Marjan hill is a protected area and there are many restrictions you have to respect. The Marjan crag is located inside of a well kept state park and runs along the top of the hill for 500m to a hight of 15-30m. It is a home crag for climbers from Split who are very proud to have such a great climbing crag in the middle of the town, with such a rich history. For Croatian climbers Marjan crag is truly the cradle of sport climbing. Marjan counts 76 routes (range 4c-8a), mostly slabs and vertical routes and especially popular for many sunny days throughout the whole year. Type of the rock is a limestone. It is very safe climbing crag, bolted friendly, with the best materials. The guys from Marulianus club are taking care of this beauty. The best season for Marjan climbing is a winter, spring and especially fall.
